For Guys: 5 Things Nigerian Girls Want For Christmas

By Nkem Ndem

Black girls are often regarded as the most beautiful and intelligent group of women in the world. Although every lady has a unique taste, there are certain things each one of them crave and will not hesitate to include on their secret Santa list. Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking portal has put together a list items Nigerian girls want for Christmas in the hope that you get the clue and have a couple of laughs as you read on.

1. A great food processor
Although many comedians and tabloids have tried to portray Nigerian girls as fast-food lovers, the truth is that they love to cook!
With the modern technology making cooking easier and faster, the average Nigerian girl has a food machine on their ‘Santa’s list’. Get her a food processor with several blades and functions, and you are on your way to stealing her heart.

2. Husband
This applies to the single girl. African women are raised to be homely and family-oriented, and so a majority of them who are above 25 and yet unmarried have the intense longing for a husband with whom they can start a family with.

While most of them will never admit it, a glance on their wishlist will reveal snagging a “husband” as Number 1. If you are dating a Nigerian girl, this Christmas might just be the best time to propose to her, that way you help both Santa and yourself. Also, if you are a single brother, ready for marriage and searching for your ‘missing rib’…go find a sister and propose.

3. Gym membership
Keeping fit and looking trim is the new trend for Nigerian girls, especially those in Lagos, and so, a majority of them are saving their hard earned registered in gym – the idea basically is to look like most of the celebrities.
Unfortunately, not all gyms offer great services and those who are unable to gain gym membership at the top sweatshops where they can get great work out, keep wishing for membership. They hope that somehow, Santa will touch someone to get them registered in one of the gyms, and for free too.

4. An unlimited cash account
Forget Nigerian girls, every single human in the country and the world would do almost anything for an unlimited expense account. Shoes, clothes, hair, spa time…they all cost money, and usually, for the average lady, it is a bit of a challenge getting everything you need to stay on top of the fashion game.

Also with an unlimited expense account, it would easy to set up dream businesses and live an organized life. While they know there is a slim chance of this wish coming true, these girls still include it on their list in faith.

5. Calorie- Free Alcohol
Christmas is a time for merriment and celebration. And truth be told, there is no party without alcohol! Unfortunately, drinking every night at the festivities is all fun and games until it is January and you look less like Toke Makinwa and more like Lepacious Bose.

Alcohol in some way, tends to add fat to the thighs, belly and arms. So, some girls who believe they can eat their cake and have it now want calorie-free alcohol. Let’s hope Santa has something in store.

Cultism: 2 Teenage Students Die After Drinking Concoction...

By Kingsley Fanwo

Two teenagers, who finished their secondary education this year (names withheld), have been reported dead in Kabba, Kogi State, in mysterious circumstance.

Sources told Vanguard that their deaths were in connection with cult initiation by a confraternity in the town.

When contacted, the parents of the teenagers said they were too devastated to speak to the press. They told Vanguard that they did not want the incident reported for fear of police harassment.

A source, who craved anonymity, said the boys died of complications which resulted from drinking a “hard substance,” which was part of the initiation.

He said the boys voluntarily sought to join the confraternity.

The source said: “From what I gathered, one of the boys was given a very hard concoction to drink during his initiation into Eiye confraternity by the leaders of the cult group.

“The substance, which was laden with very hard drugs, led to the death of the poor boy.”

Another account
However, a new twist has emerged in the controversy surrounding the teenagers’ deaths.

Another account has it that the boy took performance enhancing drugs which overstretched his system and led to his demise.

According to this account, four teenagers were involved in taking the concoction known in local parlance as Sukudie.

He said the teenagers, who resided at Odiolowo CAC area of Kabba, were rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Kabba, before two of them died.

The two survivors, according to the source, are Ebira boys from Okene.

A source, who does not want to be mentioned, confirmed that the police had launched secret investigations into the case.

What To Do When You Catch A Liar

By Dr. Travis Bradberry

It’s a hard fact to accept, but your friends and coworkers lie to you regularly. The real challenge lies in how you respond once you catch someone in the act.
“I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

Even though most people lie a lot—roughly two to three times during a ten-minute conversation, studies show—you don’t catch them nearly as often as you might think. Researchers from the University of California analyzed the results of 253 studies and found that we only spot about half the lies we’re told (53% to be exact). In other words, we’re about as likely to identify a lie as we are to win a coin toss.

The scary thing is that people who are trained in detecting deception—judges, customs agents, law enforcement officers, and even CIA agents—don’t fare much better. They can only spot a lie about 60% of the time.

When you do catch someone lying to you, it’s usually a real whopper. These are the kinds of lies that are so insulting to be the recipient that it’s hard to think straight. In these moments, you want to keep the conversation constructive, without letting the liar off the hook, which is a difficult thing to pull off.

And what about the times when you have a nagging sense that you’re being lied to but aren’t certain and don’t want to come across as paranoid or accusatory? While too much skepticism is never healthy, a small dose can be a very good thing, especially since we’re so poor at recognizing lies.

The question always becomes, what do you do with a lie? If you think someone is lying to you, do you call them on it? Do you tell someone else? Or do you just go along to get along?

There are actually several things you can do, and the right one, or the right combination, depends on the situation.

First, make certain you understand the rules. Before you decide what course of action to take, check the employee handbook and consider the recent history of similar situations. If you’re going to call someone out, you need to know what you’re getting yourself and the liar into. Know the severity of the consequences for lying, and make certain you follow proper protocol for addressing it, or the entire thing could backfire on you.

Option #1: Do nothing. Nobody likes being lied to, and the natural reaction is to call the liar out, but that’s not always the smartest thing to do, especially at work. Before you do anything, ask yourself, ‘What’s at stake besides my ego?’ Carefully weigh the pros and cons before you take action. Consider who, if anyone, should know about the lie and the implications it has for the company. Sometimes, the animosity you avoid by staying silent is worth more than the satisfaction you receive from speaking out. Other times, the lie is serious enough that people have to know.

Option #2: Deflect with humor. Some lies are too big to ignore completely, yet too small to make a big deal out of. When this happens, you can always make a joke of it. Playful comments that acknowledge the lie will usually do the trick. Whether it’s “Hey, I think I just saw your nose grow a little bit” or “I need to get my prescription checked. When I looked at the scorecard, it said you shot 112,” this strategy gives the liar a chance to admit their slip-up without fear of reprisal. The key to making this tactic work is to give the impression that the other person was kidding around or intentionally exaggerating and never expected to be believed.

Option #3: Play dumb. Another way to let someone save face—and this is particularly appropriate for group settings—is to play dumb. Pretend you suddenly suffered a memory lapse or are confused about the facts. Ask lots of follow-up questions. The more details you request, the more likely it is that the truth will come out. Drawing it out gives the liar a chance to admit that they “misspoke” and correct themselves without being called a liar.

Option #4: Call them on it. In situations where doing nothing isn’t a good option, you can always call the liar out. You just need to think carefully about the best way to do this, and impulsively bashing them is never a smart move. You may choose to have a conversation with the liar in private or with others whom the lie affects. In either case, it’s important you have evidence that backs up your claim, or you very well may be called a liar yourself. Just make certain you are honest and direct with the person who lied. Don’t go to others with the lie when you know it’s better handled privately between you and the liar.

There are many times when reporting a lie is the right thing to do, both ethically and practically. Sometimes, not reporting a lie can cost you your job. However, there are a few things you need to think about before you take that step. First, question your motives. Are you thinking of telling someone about the lie out of concern that either another employee or the company could be harmed, or are you just mad? If it’s the latter, you run the risk of making yourself look petty; if it’s the former, stick to the facts. Don’t offer any hypotheses about why the person may be lying because that’s just supposition on your part. Stick to what the person said, what the truth is, and any proof you have collected.

Not optional: Protect yourself. Whether you decide to call a lie or to let it go, once you know you’re dealing with a liar, it’s critical to take steps to protect yourself. One way to do that is to have a witness attest to what the liar said. Failing this, interact with the liar via email or text, both of which create a written record. Though if you’re dealing with a particularly savvy liar, they’re not going to commit to anything in writing. In that case, document the conversation yourself: who, what, when, where, etc., and cap it off by sending your lying colleague an e-mail summarizing the conversation. That’s not as good as having proof in the other person’s words, but at least you’ll be able to make the argument that your colleague had the opportunity to correct you.

Bringing It All Together

Some people tell infrequent lies to make themselves look good or to protect themselves. Others are pros. They’ve been doing it their whole careers, they’re good at it, and they’ve learned how to avoid getting caught. That’s why there’s no single solution that works in every situation. The best thing to do is to carefully consider your options, thinking through the pros and cons of each course of action.

How do you handle liars? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below as I learn just as much from you as you do from me.

Man Kills His Pregnant Girlfriend, Then Buries Her

THe SHOCK, which engulfed the people of Ezeakam, Eziudo community in Ezinihitte Local Government Area of Imo State, still persists as news of how a young man from the community, allegedly killed his pregnant girl friend through the administration of a local concoction spread in the community. The deceased 25-year old lady, who was identified as Chinonye Ella, was allegedly dating the 39-year old Chamberlin Ojoko before she died July 20, 2015.
While Chinonye lived and operated from Umuahia, Abia State, her boy friend resided and also operated from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with members of his immediate family. Giving a graphic detail of the ugly incident, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, said that the deceased lady boarded the same vehicle with Ojoko sometime in December 2014, at Achingali in Obowo local council area of Imo State, had a close chat which later led to the exchange of telephone numbers.

The CP also said that from police investigations, Ojoko regularly invited Chinonye to Owerri, when they lodged in hotels of his choice and had fun-filled times together. “After any such outing, Ojoko gave his girl friend between N3,000 and N4,000 to cover her transport expenses.

This, continued until Chinonye informed her boy friend that she was pregnant,” the CP recounted. The pregnancy aspect of the relationship apparently unsettled the man and he started making plans to convince his friend to abort the unborn child.

“Having succeeded in convincing the lady to abort the baby, the suspect, on July 20, 2015, took Chinonye to an uncompleted building at Ezeakam, Eziudo and gave her the local concoction he had earlier procured for the abortion,” the CP said. The Imo police boss also said that not long after the concoction was administered on the lady, she started experiencing severe pain in her tummy and later died on the spot, stressing that the man buried her close to the building.

Sensing that he had accomplished his mission, possibly undetected, Ojoko calmly scampered to his Port Harcourt base, not knowing that a little girl clearly saw him as he lifted the body of his girl friend and buried it close to the uncompleted house. South East Voice gathered that the little girl eventually narrated what she saw to the owner of the uncompleted building, Dr. Ukaegbu, who later brought in the officers of Ezinihitte Divisional Police.

Armed with this report, homicide detectives from the State Police Headquarters, Owerri, were quickly brought into the picture and investigation commenced. The police then mobilized and set off to Port Harcourt, taking along with them Dr. Ukaegbu and the suspect’s younger brother, Pastor Sopuruchi Ojoko. Narrating the little he knew about the entire story, the Pastor recalled that he saw his elder brother and his girl friend at about  3p.m.  on the fateful day, pointing out that the duo never entered the family house but headed towards Eziudo Road.

“At about  9p.m., my brother returned to the house without the girl. He requested for a shovel. He did not return till about  11p.m. I sought to know where he was coming from at that late hour and he said that he went to the toilet,” the pastor said. Continuing, the suspect’s younger brother said that when information reached the family that Chamberlin murdered his girl friend, he took the police officers to Port Harcourt, where he was arrested.

Giving his own account of the event at the State Police Headquarters, Owerri, where he is currently cooling his heels, Mr. Ojoko confirmed that he took his girl friend to an uncompleted building on July 20, 2015, at about  6.30p.m. “My girl friend took the herbal medicine and later started experiencing serious pain. Then she died. I ran to my house and took a shovel. I carried her body to the side of the building, dug a shallow grave and buried her there,” Ojoko said.

Meanwhile, the CP confirmed that the late lady’s body had been exhumed and post mortem examination done, adding that his major concern as at the time of the interview, was how to connect the relations of the dead lady. “The Command is very desirous to get in touch with the immediate relations of the late lady, given that her telephone handset, which could have assisted the police in this regard, was thrown away by the suspect,” the CP said.

He then appealed to members of the public to provide information that would assist the Police in locating the relations of the deceased lady, who are believed to be residing in Umuahia, Abia State.

Meet the Man That Delivered The Letter Bomb That Killed Dele Giwa

On Sunday, Professor Taiyemiwo Ogunade gave a bombshell interview to The NATION newspaper in which he made startling revelations about those who killed Dele Giwa in 1986. In a subsequent chat with Saharareporters, he spoke specifically about the role of former military administrator of Lagos State Buba Marwa in the assassination of the colourful journalist.
Dr. Ogunade disclosed that soldiers loyal to the slain General Mamman Vatsa identified Marwa as the person who delivered the parcel bomb that killed Giwa, the Newswatchmagazine founder.

He said the revelation came from a confidential discussion he had with one of the military boys who came to the City University of New York (CUNY) to press the college to train Nigerian military officials in “Peace and Conflict Resolution”. He said that Vatsa gave a four-hour long testimony to the military tribunal that tried and later sentenced him to death for a phantom coup plot against former military dictator, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.

Saharareporters : Do you know who delivered the bomb that killed Dele Giwa?

Ogunade: I believe that Buba Marwa did it. Some Mamman Vatsa boys told the full story in New York during a visit to my college to lobby our college to accept to train Nigerian military officers. Ambassador Olusola was on that entourage. (My informant) told me Dele Giwa was killed because he was in possession of a tape containing Vatsa’s testimony before the military tribunal. For four hours, Vatsa requested to tell the full story about how the Babangida regime was operating and his knowledge of the workings of IBB’s mind. He pointed out that after Halilu Akilu and Col. A.K Togun of the military intelligence prepared the parcel it was handed over to Buba Marwa to deliver to Dele Giwa. Marwa is a well–known “IBB boy”. But I was the one who gave Dele Giwa the tape.

Saharareporters : How did you get the tape?

Ogunade: Vatsa had a copy made by his friends in the tribunal and smuggled out to me and I “loaned” it to Dele Giwa who got on the case immediately. I still don’t know how Dele Giwa found out that I had the tape till this day.

Saharareporters : Do you still have a copy?

Ogunade: Yes, but you know I left Nigeria hurriedly after the death of Dele Giwa. I left (the tape) with my aged mother, who did not know the value then. I won’t say more, let the military release that tape to the Nigerian public.

Saharareporters : Did Dele Giwa return the tape to you?

Ogunade: Yes, he returned it after 24 hours. Don’t forget that I loaned it to him; I think he went and played it to Babangida’s people and they eliminated him after they heard the tape.

Saharareporters : What about Gloria Okon? It’s been said that Dele Giwa’s discovery of her was the reason he was killed?

Ogunade: Gloria Okon is actually Chinyere, that’s her real name. She married Charles “Jeff” Chandler, the fellow who killed Nzeogwu and was killed a day later. Chinyere, Maryam and Princess Atta were young friends who hung out together. They all married into the military, because the military was a proud and respectable profession then. Charles Chandler, who was Tiv, married Chinyere who I think is from Imo State. IBB married Maryam from Asaba and Mamman Vatsa married the princess. So Chinyere became a widow and resorted to trading between UK and Nigeria. And then she was caught with drugs; Mamman Vatsa was the person who put Chinyere on the next available flight from Kano to London – and then claimed that she was dead by parading a dead woman picked out of the mortuary. Dele Giwa later found out that she was in London having delivered a baby by another man. He sent a French photographer to the place and they saw Maryam Babangida at the event. Kayode Soyinka brought back the photographs.

Dele was sitting across the table from Kayode examining the photos taken of “Gloria Okon” (Chinyere, Richard Chandler’s wife) at the naming ceremony in London. Maryam Babangida was there. And then a letter parcel was delivered to him and he said excitedly that it must be from “Mr. President” referring to the discussions he had with IBB days earlier. The bomb exploded and severed his lower abdomen; he died a few hours later.

Saharareporters: Did you ever meet Marwa again? And did you ask him about his involvement?

Ogunade: Yes, Marwa was very active in the Nigerian embassy in New York. For a long time he was the “military attaché” to the Nigerian mission in New York while I was a professor of Black Studies at the City University of New York. He came to my college to sign a $30 million contract with the college so that members of the Nigerian military could attend a “Peace and Conflict Resolution program” and then be awarded a masters degree upon completion of the program. I fought bitterly against it, but the chair of the department, John Muyibi Amoda, badly wanted the money. I kept fighting and one day the college authorities acceded to my request. When I got home the college had dismissed me, but also I got a fax message saying the $30 million had been returned to Marwa. But between Marwa and Abacha they never returned that money to the Nigerian treasury. They shared it. I heard between him and Abacha, over $250 million was laundered through an account used by the New York mission of the Nigerian embassy. Marwa later set up an airline with his share of the loot. When he showed up to run for president I was the one who petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate him. He confessed to money laundering in handwritten statements to the EFCC, but today he is the ambassador of Nigeria to South Africa. The police officer that investigated him, Ibrahim Magu, is permanently suspended from the police force after he was humiliated by the EFCC. It is a shameful country.

Saharareporters : What else did you do?

Ogunade: We helped start the Obama phenomenon in Chicago.

Saharareporters : How?

Ogunade: We fought and exposed Carol Mosley-Braun who was Abacha’s agent in the US Senate. She was removed from the US Senate because she took $5 million from Abacha to help cover his tracks in the US. We exposed her, which was how it became possible for the brilliant Obama to become the US president today. We set the stage for it.

Apostle Anselm Madubuko Confesses having Sex with K-Solo's Ex Wife

A few years ago musician and producer KSolo & his wife Kikelomo Akinkunmi were in the news when they made headlines for their rocky marriage which included domestic violence, back & forth in the press bashing each other which eventually resulted in their divorce.

Three years after and it’s being reported by The NETNG that Kikelomo is at the center of at adultery scandal with Apostle Anselm Madubuko, founder and senior pastor of Revival Assembly.

The two were allegedly having an affair for 3 months and he confessed to his congregation.

According to the publication
Pastor Madubuko confessed on Sunday October 18, 2015 when he came to church to kneel before the congregation to apologise and beg for forgiveness. Madubuko, we’re told, ‘came on the pulpit on Sunday to confess that he has dated Kike for 3 months. He said she came to him as a prayer warrior and he didn’t suspect foul play till it was too late’. Kike, a mother-of-one, was ‘expelled from the church along with a certain Pastor Uche’ a source said. We also learnt that Pastor Madubuko’s Kenyan wife, Emmy Kosgei was present in church and she consoled him as he wept terribly in front of the congregation.
Pastor Maduboko lost his wife of many years in July 2012, he married Kenyan Gospel singer Emmy Kosgei  in August 2013. When NET reached out to Kike for a comment she said,
I don’t want to say anything about it, I’ll just leave it and let God judge everybody. Please don’t ask any more questions because you can’t convince me as a journalist to speak on this issue

Update
The church has not released an official statement at this time. However, prominent church members have spoken out to icampusng
Popular gospel musician, Kenny Saint Best (KSB) who attends Pastor Anselm Madubuko’s church, The Revival Assembly Church in Lagos and is the head of Teens Ministry and popular actor, Paul Obazele who is the Head Of Media have denied the news online today that Pastor Madubuko confessed to adultery during a church service on Sunday, both entertainment personalities who spoke to our corespondent in a separate telephone interviews said the popular pastor did not in any way have sexual encounter with Kikelomo Akinkunmi, ex-wife of music producer, K-Solo neither did he confess to adultery with her.
KSB who spoke to us first said what happened on Sunday was totally and clearly misconstrued.

“What the Pastor apologized for was the fact that he did not heed to warnings from a lot of people that the girl has a destructive spirit, not that he slept with her.
Kike came to the church disguised as a prayer warrior and as somebody who needed help, the church embraced her and she joined the Intercessory section, she gave a lot of prophecies, some of which actually came true but she also had destructive tendencies as many people in the department had to leave because of her. At that point, many people went to the Pastor and told him too expel the girl as she had destructive spirit and many even said she had Jezebel spirit but the Pastor refused to believe them. He only consulted with the head of Prayer warriors who is another Pastor who said the girl is truly talented but after a while, she also descended on the Head Of the department, as a matter of fact the last straw that broke the camel’s back was when she gave prophesy that the Pastor Madubuko married wrongly and that he should close down the ministry. The Pastor began to see that he was wrong to have disregarded the warnings of other prayer warriors that have called for the sacking or expulsion of the girl and indeed that was what Pastor Madubuko apologized for’.
After a while, popular actor, Paul Obazele called us and introduced himself as Head of Media of the ministry, he said

“Nothing like Pastor confessing to adultery ever happened, I am talking to you as the head of media, that story is not true and as KSB said, we can get you the tape. Please disregard such news”.

Mother and Her Daughter Wants Me In Bed. I'm a Virgin... What Do I Do?

Believe it or not, I am a virgin at the age of 25. My problem now is that my boss and her daughter are both trying to get me into bed. After I finished at the law school, my mum arranged for me to work in her friend’s chambers to gain experience. Sadly, my mother recently lost her battle against breast cancer. She died, leaving me devastated and my boss said if I ever needed anyone to talk to, she would always be there for me.

Then, she started inviting me to her place for meals. She’s a single mother of two and lives with her daughter who is my age-mate. I was leaving her house one night, after a meal when she asked me to wait. She shut the door and started kissing me, but she stopped when her daughter arrived home. The next day at work, she started sending me saucy e-mails, saying, “I think you have a hot body.”

Now, she’s confessed she has feelings for me and she wants things to get sexual between us. I’ve never had sex before, so I don’t think I’d be much good to her.

I’ve also been spending time with her daughter. She’s single and I’ve introduced her to my friends because she wants to meet a man. This had taken my mind off things and got me socialising again. My boss’ daughter is very pretty and I thought she’d find a man quickly, but it hasn’t happened, so, I asked her why. She said it was because the person she would really love to be with is me. Then, she asked me to come up to her bedroom. I was shocked and a bit lost for words. Why has this happened? I don’t know what to do. It’s stressing me out. I’m worried one of them will say the wrong thing to the other at home and it’ll all blow up in my face. What should I do?

Don't Read This::: It's a Touching Story of a 19 Year Old Girl

By Tracy

My parents are at the point of divorce. I feel like my family hates one another. My mother and father abuse each other and fight all the time while they mentally abuse me while denying that they do so. I feel like they do know but they still don’t care that they are. What they do to each other and to me and my siblings are damaging our psyche.
I’m sick and tired of not being able to leave the house without feeling bad for something that isn’t my fault. I have no freedom and I’m under so much pressure. I was pressured into getting a job at 19 while I school, and now my parents complain that I have a job, and want me to quit. I only work at weekends.

My dad has been complaining about my weight, telling me to lose weight. My mum assumes the most ridiculous things ever, making me go insane because she is making these ridiculous assumptions that make me want to scream.

Six months ago, I fell in love with my ‘true love’ and we’re still going strong. I know that he is there for me whenever but I still don’t want to stress him about this because it makes him depressed. My parents don’t know what they’re doing to me. They think it’s fine to call me names, trap me in the house, and not socialise whatsoever.

They hate all my friends and say horrible things about them. They follow me around when I’m at school or when I’m at my work. I’ve had to lie to them a couple of times saying I was at work, just so I could go and be with my friends and boyfriend, which I know is wrong but there’s no other way for me to have a social life if I don’t do this.

My parents are forcing me to always be in the house at weekends looking after my youngest brother, and help clean the house. I’m afraid to ask my dad for money because I know I would get a 40 minute lecture on how much of a bad daughter I am for asking him. My parents have said things to me like “you’re not my daughter” or “you’re the worst daughter ever in history”.

I do well in school, I respect my elders and I try my best to live up to my parents’ expectations but still it’s never good enough. I can’t smile at home anymore. I’ve been tempted to run away a few times but pulled through because I know how hurt they would be.

After all I’m being put through, I still think about them. I love my parents, so much! But I just wish that I would be respected and appreciated for who I am. I’m not asking for material things, I’m simply asking for love, and freedom and happiness.

I’m sure that isn’t too hard. Everyone always tells me that I don’t deserve this whatsoever. I don’t think anyone does. I try to be honest as I can and yes, I’ve made mistakes but they don’t know how to accept that no one’s perfect, especially children who go through this.

I’m trying my best to pull through for my brothers and myself. But it’s too hard. My parents always twist my words on me and say that I said something when I really didn’t. They feel satisfied when I’m hurt.

They are always complaining about their jobs and how much they work. They call me names and make me feel like shit. They lie to me and have hit me several times. They say that their anger is because of me, and only me. They are all about the “do as I say because I said so and I don’t care what you say” and “I’m your parent so what I say goes, like it or not”.

They also go around asking people about my friends, investigating if they are good people or not and also trying to creep on their Facebook accounts.

I’ve let my parents know how I feel, but they don’t care. I don’t want to leave my house. I love them so much. I just want to be loved, respected, appreciated and happy. I need more freedom. I want to feel table at home again. I want to smile for real. I want to not be paranoid thinking my parents are following me around.

I Have Never Collected Bribe In My Life" - Rotimi Amaechi

By KIKELOMO IWAJOMO

The immediate past governor of Rivers State Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has just been screened by the Senate following his nomination as minister. Shortly after the Senate President Senator Bukola Saraki acknowledged receipt of his curriculum vitae, Amaechi was told to highlight his achievements as a former speaker and ex-governor. This led to the question-and-answer session when Amaechi answered questions from the senators.

Earlier the senate minority leader Senator Godswill Akpabio said the PDP senators had resolved not to ask Amaechi questions bordering on the screening, disclosing they have petitions against the nominee. The Senate Leader, Senate Ali Ndume however opposed the stance of Akpabio and the opposition, saying as a former Speaker and Governor, Amaechi could as well simply bow and go.

On his role as a former chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum(NGF), Amaechi said,"'We refined governance and repositioned leadership under my tenure as Governor. All we did in the Governors Forum was to defend the rights of Nigerians.I find it difficult to do what people want me to do, if it clashes with my principles.Nigerian politicians believe there is need for compromise but not when it clashes with my principles."

On development in key sectors, Amaechi added that: "I believe there are resources in the Niger-Delta, that is why there is Militancy. If I become the Minister for Niger Delta, the East - West Road will be first to be completed. If you invest in Agriculture & invest in Technology, you will hire as many workers as you can get. In Rivers State we established two farms. We must improve on the Social Rights of the people; if you have peace you'll have investors. Why people don't invest in Nigeria is because the cost of investment is higher than the profit' We must also invest in Education; Some of our youths are unemployable".

On corruption, he further said: "I have never collected bribe in my life.If they send a girl to you to do something for her and you sleep with the girl, you are corrupt.Corruption is difficult to define. If we keep to the rule of law, allow a Governor to function as a Governor, that will be it."

Four things you can do to make your husband love you forever

By Pastor Sophia

I feel the greatest need of wives is to be genuinely loved by their husbands. God recognises this need in wives and that's why He commanded husbands to love their wives. A wife that is loved by her husband is truly blessed, fulfilled and satisfied. She is emotionally stable and sound. It is okay to desire and confess that you are loved by your husband. Don't give up and conclude it's too much of a luxury to waste your energy and emotions on.

Don't condition your heart to the fact that you will learn to cope with whatever measure he doles to you. Some wives even feel, it's wrong to expect their husband to love them. I want to encourage you this morning not to settle for less. At the same time, I am not suggesting you become obsessed with seeking your husband’s love by all means through ungodly ways. Some wives have become manipulative following the sensual, ungodly wisdom of this world.

There are godly principles and wisdom we can apply in our homes and marriages that will  make us as wives enjoy the undying love of our husbands. If you will believe The Lord, trust in Him and follow these simple principles, there will be restoration of genuine love in our marriages. You will no longer long for and wish for your husband's love, you will experience the reality of it.

For singles these principles are useful as your store up this wisdom to be applied later when you are married. The foundation of your marriage will be wisdom, you won't have to experience struggles in your relationship and marriage. It is not solely dependent on your husband to love you even though God commanded him to. There are also things you can do as a wife that will endear your husband to you.

1. Respect your husband
Respect is actually a virtue of the heart. It is a value system you place on your husband based on the understanding and acceptance of his headship position. Respect could be verbal, physical, and definitely attitudinal. You need to respect your own husband. That's an assignment, you must never fail at. In respecting him. You need to know what respect is for your own husband. You don't define what respect is to your husband, your husband  defines to you what respect is to him according to God’s word.

You are to specifically ask your husband what you can do that will make him feel respected. It could be the way to talk, how you serve his food, how you take are of the home, how the kids are cared for, how you sacrifice for him, how you treat his stuffs, how you get interested in his business etc. don't assume or guess, ask him, you might be surprised at how simple things could be a big deal for your husband.
As a single lady, begin to train yourself to show respect to your fiancé. Don't think when you get married, you will change.

2. Pray for your husband
One of the greatest ways you can fulfil your assignment as a helpmeet is to pray for your husband. Be his intercessor. Pray for and about every single part of your husband's life. Nothing is too big or too small to escape your talking to God about. Pray for him when he is at his best as a father, husband and when he is doing well. Don't wait for things to get not too good before you start praying. Keep your prayer bank full and God will honour you. Your husband will also love you more.

There are some issues that God just steps in and defend you without you having to struggle for in your marriage. It's a spiritual thing and your husband just loves you more without knowing why. I enjoy this a lot because I keep praying for my husband always. I want to recommend power of a praying wife by Stormie Omartian to all wives. Helping your husband is essentially praying for him. He is the head, you are the heart, the engine and power room. Never stop praying for him, no matter what.

3. Give your husband the honour of having the final say.
The intelligent, opinionated and strong willed wives have issues with this.
They are cholerics, goal getters and achievers. They are used to making their own decisions and sticking to it. Opposites attracted so usually, a fast and active wife will probably have a quiet, slow and steady husband. Now the challenge would be, being submissive to your husband when you consider him too slow, passive and weak. You know what, that is your opinion, but if you want to win your husband's love, you need to tuck in this opinion and obey God's instruction to submit to your own husbands disposition.

After airing your opinion, genuinely let your husband have the last say. Remember he is the king of your family kingdom. The king’s words are never to be argued. So what if I am sure he is in the wrong, should I just look on? Not necessarily, you can pray about it but not argue. Give your husband the honour of reigning in your marriage, let him have the last say. Never drag power or usurp authority with your husband. Keep your tongue. Don't nag about issue or over flogged things.

4. Satisfy him sexually
If you are not ready to satisfy your own husband sexually, please don't marry him. A sexually starved man is an angry, frustrated, distracted man. You will be punishing him and not doing him good. The bible says, the virtuous wife does her husband good all the days of her life. Part of that good is satisfying him sexually. Some husband just get angry at their wives without seemingly no reason, buy when you dig deeper you see that they are not sexually satisfied. If you need to pray about this, do.

Prepare your mind and body if you need to. Plan your schedule, get someone to help with some house chores, just do whatever needs to be done to fulfil this all important assignment. I am sure you don't want anyone assisting you in this area, God forbid.

For singles, there is nothing to satisfy now sexually. Wait for your time, and don’t lick hot stew before you are served thereby destroying your taste bud and jeopardising your relationship with God.

May The Lord keep your courtship or your marriages. May the wine of your marriage never get sour in Jesus Name.

Relationship Danger Signs

Here are the seven danger signs .
1. He/she is not faithful in little things.
Unfaithfulness is a very negative sign. An unfaithful man shall not abound. An unfaithful man cannot fulfill destiny and purpose.

2. He/ she is lustful.
He or she has no moral standards. He is sexually loose. He or she is always seeking for jeru trap outside marriage

3. He/she has no fear of God.
Church membership is very different from loving and fearing God. A guy or lady that loves and fear God is a gold mine. Having regards for God is the greatest asset. The bible says it is the beginning of wisdom.

4. He/she is an habitual liar.
Like the old proverb, the person that lies will steal. A liar or deceiver is a person to run away from.

5. He/she has no vision.
Everyone has a destiny and purpose. The discovery of purpose is what becomes your vision. It's our responsibility to discover our God given purpose. A man without vision is a frustrated person and will eventually drag the other person into the frustration.

6. He/she has major character flaws.
Major character flaws are not to be ignored. We all fall into sin every once in a while but as believers, we have Gods nature and His spirit, so essentially we don't have the sin nature any longer.

7. He/she doesn't love you genuinely.
Deep, heart felt love is a decision not a feeling. Avoid a person that doesn't really love you genuinely. It takes love to be committed and stick with a person through thick and thin. How do you know if there is no genuine love? It will show in little things, in words and in actions. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Incorrectly Used Words That Can Make You Look Dumb

By Jeff Haden

Using the right word can matter. Using the wrong word can matter even more. I once lost a potential writing gig because I used "who" instead of "whom" in a proposal letter.

(And I still have trouble getting "who" and "whom" right.)

Even just one incorrectly used word--especially when you're trying to make a great impression--can ruin everything. Is that unfair? Yes... but it does happen.

To make sure that doesn't happen to you, I've collected some of the most common incorrectly used words from other posts into one epic post. (Thanks to all the readers along the way who offered their own examples, many of which are included here.)

Here we go.

Adverse and averse
Adverse means harmful or unfavorable: "Adverse market conditions caused the IPO to be poorly subscribed." Averse refers to feelings of dislike or opposition: "I was averse to paying $18 a share for a company that generates no revenue."

But, hey, feel free to have an aversion to adverse conditions.

Advise and advice
Aside from the two words being pronounced differently (the s in advise sounds like a z), advise is a verb while advice is a noun. Advice is what you give (whether or not the recipient is interested in that gift is a different issue altogether) when you advise someone.

So "Thank you for the advise" is incorrect, while "I advise you not to bore me with your advice in the future" is correct if pretentious.

If you run into trouble, just say each word out loud and you'll instantly know which makes sense; there's no way you'd ever say "I advice you to..."

Affect and effect
Verbs first. Affect means to influence: "Impatient investors affected our roll-out date." Effect means to accomplish something: "The board effected a sweeping policy change."

How you use effect or affect can be tricky. For example, a board can affect changes by influencing them and can effect changes by directly implementing them. Bottom line, use effect if you're making it happen, and affect if you're having an impact on something that someone else is trying to make happen.

As for nouns, effect is almost always correct: "Once he was fired he was given 20 minutes to gather his personal effects." Affect refers to an emotional state, so unless you're a psychologist you probably have little reason to use it.

Aggressive and enthusiastic
Aggressive is a very popular business adjective: aggressive sales force, aggressive revenue projections, aggressive product rollout. But unfortunately, aggressive means ready to attack, or pursuing aims forcefully, possibly unduly so.

So do you really want an "aggressive" sales force?

Of course, most people have seen aggressive used that way for so long they don't think of it negatively; to them it just means hard-charging, results-oriented, driven, etc., none of which are bad things.

But some people may not see it that way. So consider using words like enthusiastic, eager, committed, dedicated, or even (although it pains me to say it) passionate.

Award and reward
An award is a prize. Musicians win Grammy Awards. Car companies win J.D. Power awards. Employees win Employee of the Month awards. Think of an award as the result of a contest or competition.

A reward is something given in return for effort, achievement, hard work, merit, etc. A sales commission is a reward. A bonus is a reward. A free trip for landing the highest number of new customers is a reward.

Be happy when your employees win industry or civic awards, and reward them for the hard work and sacrifices they make to help your business grow.

Between and among
Use between when you name separate and individual items. Take "The team will decide between Mary, Marcia, and Steve when we fill the open customer service position." Mary, Marcia, and Steve are separate and distinct, so between is correct.

Use among when there are three or more items but they are not named separately. Like, "The team will decide among a number of candidates when we fill the open customer service position." Who are the candidates? You haven't named them separately, so among is correct.

And we're assuming there are more than two candidates; otherwise you'd say between. If there are two candidates you could say, "I just can't decide between them."

Bring and take
Both have to do with objects you move or carry. The difference is in the point of reference: You bring things here and you take them there. You ask people to bring something to you, and you ask people to take something to someone or somewhere else.

"Can you bring an appetizer to John's party"? Nope.

Compliment and complement
Compliment means to say something nice. Complement means added to, enhanced, improved, completed, or brought close to perfection.

I can compliment your staff and their service, but if you have no current openings you have a full complement of staff. Or your new app may complement your website.

For which I may decide to compliment you.

Continuously and continually
Both words come from the root continue, but they mean very different things. Continuously means never ending. Hopefully your efforts to develop your employees are continuous, because you never want to stop improving their skills and their future.

Continual means whatever you're referring to stops and starts. You might have frequent disagreements with your co-founder, but unless those discussions never end (which is unlikely, even though it might feel otherwise), then those disagreements are continual.

That's why you should focus on continuous improvement but plan to have continual meetings with your accountant: The former should never, ever stop, and the other (mercifully) should.

Criterion and criteria
A criterion is a principle or standard. If you have more than one criterion, those are referred to as criteria.

But if you want to be safe and you only have one issue to consider, just say standard or rule or benchmark. Then use criteria for all the times there are multiple specifications or multiple standards involved.

Discreet and discrete
Discreet means careful, cautious, showing good judgment: "We made discreet inquiries to determine whether the founder was interested in selling her company."

Discrete means individual, separate, or distinct: "We analyzed data from a number of discrete market segments to determine overall pricing levels." And if you get confused, remember: You don't use "discretion" to work through sensitive issues; you exercise discretion.

Elicit and illicit
Elicit means to draw out or coax. Think of elicit as the mildest form of extract. If one lucky survey respondent will win a trip to the Bahamas, the prize is designed to elicit responses.

Illicit means illegal or unlawful, and while I suppose you could elicit a response at gunpoint, you probably shouldn't.

Everyday and every day
Every day means, yep, every day -- each and every day. If you ate a bagel for breakfast each day this week, you had a bagel every day.

Everyday means commonplace or normal. Decide to wear your "everyday shoes" and that means you've chosen to wear the shoes you normally wear. That doesn't mean you have to wear them every single day; it just means wearing them is a common occurrence.

Another example is along and a long: Along means moving in a constant direction or a line, or in the company of others, while a long means of great distance or duration. You wouldn't stand in "along line," but you might stand in a long line for a long time, along with a number of other people.

A couple more examples: a while and awhile, and any way and anyway.

If you're in doubt, read what you write out loud. It's unlikely you'll decide, "Is there anyway (say it fast) you can help me?" sounds right. "Is there any (small pause) way you can help me?" does.

Evoke and invoke
To evoke is to call to mind; an unusual smell might evoke a long-lost memory. To invoke is to call upon something: help, aid, or maybe a higher power.

So hopefully all your branding and messaging efforts evoke specific emotions in potential customers. But if they don't, you might consider invoking the gods of commerce to aid you in your quest for profitability.

Or something like that.

Farther and further
Farther involves a physical distance: "Florida is farther from New York than Tennessee." Further involves a figurative distance: "We can take our business plan no further."

So, as we say in the South (and that "we" has included me), "I don't trust you any farther than I can throw you," or "I ain't gonna trust you no further."

Fewer and less
Use fewer when referring to items you can count, like "fewer hours" or "fewer dollars."

Use "less" when referring to items you can't (or haven't tried to) count, like "less time" or "less money."

Good and well
Anyone who has children uses good more often than he or she should. Since kids pretty quickly learn what good means, "You did good, honey" is much more convenient and meaningful than "You did well, honey."

But that doesn't mean good is the correct word choice.

Good is an adjective that describes something; if you did a good job, then you do good work. Well is an adverb that describes how something was done; you can do your job well.

Where it gets tricky is when you describe, say, your health or emotional state. "I don't feel well" is grammatically correct, even though many people (including me) often say, "I don't feel too good." On the other hand, "I don't feel good about how he treated me" is correct; no one says "I don't feel well about how I'm treated."

Confused? If you're praising an employee and referring to the outcome say, "You did a good job." If you're referring to how the employee performed say, "You did incredibly well."

And while you're at it, stop saying good to your kids and use great instead, because no one -- especially a kid -- ever receives too much praise.

If and whether
If and whether are often interchangeable. If a yes/no condition is involved, then feel free to use either: "I wonder whether Jim will finish the project on time?" or "I wonder if Jim will finish the project on time?" (Whether sounds a little more formal in this case, so consider your audience and how you wish to be perceived.)

It gets trickier when a condition is not involved. "Let me know whether Marcia needs a projector for the meeting" isn't conditional, because you want to be informed either way. "Let me know if Marcia needs a projector for the meeting" is conditional because you want to be told only if she needs one.

And always use if when you introduce a condition. "If you hit your monthly target, I'll increase your bonus," is correct; the condition is hitting the target and the bonus is the result. "Whether you are able to hit your monthly target is totally up to you," does not introduce a condition (unless you want the employee to infer that your thinly veiled threat is a condition of ongoing employment).

Impact and affect (and effect)
Many people (including, until recently, me) use impact when they should use affect. Impact doesn't mean to influence; impact means to strike, collide, or pack firmly.

Affect means to influence: "Impatient investors affected our rollout date."

And to make it more confusing, effect means to accomplish something: "The board effected a sweeping policy change."

How you correctly use effect or affect can be tricky. For example, a board can affect changes by influencing them and can effect changes by directly implementing them. Bottom line, use effect if you're making it happen, and affect if you're having an impact on something that someone else is trying to make happen.

As for nouns, effect is almost always correct: "Employee morale has had a negative effect on productivity." Affect refers to an emotional state, so unless you're a psychologist, you probably have little reason to use it.

So stop saying you'll "impact sales" or "impact the bottom line." Use affect.

(And feel free to remind me when I screw that up, because I feel sure I'll backslide.)

Imply and infer
The speaker or writer implies, which means to suggest. The listener or reader infers, which means to deduce, whether correctly or not.

So I might imply you're going to receive a raise. And you might infer that a pay increase is imminent. (But not eminent, unless the raise will somehow be prominent and distinguished.)

Insure and ensure
This one's easy. Insure refers to insurance. Ensure means to make sure.

So if you promise an order will ship on time, ensure that it actually happens. Unless, of course, you plan to arrange for compensation if the package is damaged or lost -- then feel free to insure away.

(While there are exceptions where insure is used, the safe move is to use ensure when you will do everything possible to make sure something happens.)

Irregardless and regardless
Irregardless appears in some dictionaries because it's widely used to mean "without regard to" or "without respect to," which is also what regardless means.

In theory the ir-, which typically means "not," joined up with regardless, which means "without regard to," makes irregardless mean "not without regard to," or more simply, "with regard to."

Which probably makes it a word that does not mean what you think it means.

So save yourself a syllable and just say regardless.

Mute and moot
Think of mute like the button on your remote; it means unspoken or unable to speak. In the U.S., moot refers to something that is of no practical importance; a moot point is one that could be hypothetical or even (gasp!) academic. In British English, moot can also mean debatable or open to debate.

So if you were planning an IPO, but your sales have plummeted, the idea of going public could be moot. And if you decide not to talk about it anymore, you will have gone mute on the subject.

Number and amount
I goof these up all the time. Use number when you can count what you refer to: "The number of subscribers who opted out increased last month." Amount refers to a quantity of something that can't be counted: "The amount of alcohol consumed at our last company picnic was staggering."

Of course it can still be confusing: "I can't believe the number of beers I drank" is correct, but so is, "I can't believe the amount of beer I drank." The difference is you can count beers, but beer, especially if you were way too drunk to keep track, is an uncountable total and makes amount the correct usage.

Peak and peek
A peak is the highest point; climbers try to reach the peak of Mount Everest. Peek means quick glance, as in giving major customers a sneak peek at a new product before it's officially unveiled, which hopefully helps sales peak at an unimaginable height.

Occasionally a marketer will try to "peak your interest" or "peek your interest," but in that case the right word is pique, which means "to excite." (Pique can also mean "to upset," but hopefully that's not what marketers intend.)

Precede and proceed
Precede means to come before. Proceed means to begin or continue. Where it gets confusing is when an -ing comes into play. "The proceeding announcement was brought to you by..." sounds fine, but preceding is correct since the announcement came before.

If it helps, think precedence: Anything that takes precedence is more important and therefore comes first.

Principle and principal
A principle is a fundamental: "Our culture is based on a set of shared principles." Principal means primary or of first importance: "Our startup's principal is located in NYC." (Sometimes you'll also see the plural, principals, used to refer to executives or relatively co-equals at the top of a particular food chain.)

Principal can also refer to the most important item in a particular set: "Our principal account makes up 60 percent of our gross revenues."

Principal can also refer to money, normally a sum that was borrowed, but can be extended to refer to the amount you owe -- hence principal and interest.

If you're referring to laws, rules, guidelines, ethics, etc., use principle. If you're referring to the CEO or the president (or an individual in charge of a high school), use principal.

Slander and libel
Don't like what people say about you? Like slander, libel refers to making a false statement that is harmful to a person's reputation.

The difference lies in how that statement is expressed. Slanderous remarks are spoken while libelous remarks are written and published (which means defamatory tweets could be considered libelous, not slanderous).

Keep in mind what makes a statement libelous or slanderous is its inaccuracy, not its harshness. No matter how nasty a tweet, as long as it's factually correct it cannot be libelous. Truth is an absolute defense to defamation; you might wish a customer hadn't said something derogatory about your business, but if what that customer said is true, then you have no legal recourse.

Stationary and stationery
You write on stationery. You get business stationery, such as letterhead and envelopes, printed.

But that box of envelopes is not stationary unless it's not moving -- and even then it's still stationery.

Sympathy and empathy
Sympathy is acknowledging another person's feelings. "I am sorry for your loss" means you understand the other person is grieving and want to recognize that fact.

Empathy is having the ability to put yourself in the other person's shoes and relate to how the person feels, at least in part because you've experienced those feelings yourself.

The difference is huge. Sympathy is passive; empathy is active. (Here's a short video by Bren Brown that does a great job of describing the difference, and explains how empathy fuels connection while sympathy drives disconnection.)

Know the difference between sympathy and empathy, live the difference, and you'll make a bigger difference in other people's lives.

Systemic and systematic
If you're in doubt, systematic is almost always the right word to use. Systematic means arranged or carried out according to a plan, method, or system. That's why you can take a systematic approach to continuous improvement, or do a systematic evaluation of customer revenue or a systematic assessment of market conditions.

Systemic means belonging to or affecting the system as a whole. Poor morale could be systemic to your organization. Or bias against employee diversity could be systemic.

So if your organization is facing a pervasive problem, take a systematic approach to dealing with it -- that's probably the only way you'll overcome it.

Then and than
Then refers in some way to time. "Let's close this deal, and then we'll celebrate!" Since the celebration comes after the sale, then is correct.

Then is also often used with if. Think in terms of if-then statements: "If we don't get to the office on time, then we won't be able to close the deal today."

Than involves a comparison. "Landing Customer A will result in higher revenue than landing Customer B," or "Our sales team is more committed to building customer relationships than the competition is."

Ultimate and penultimate
I once received a pitch from a PR professional that read, "(Acme Industries) provides the penultimate value-added services for discerning professionals."

As Inigo would say, "I do not think it means what you think it means."

Ultimate means the best, or final, or last. Penultimate means the last but one, or second to last. (Or, as a Monty Python-inspired Michelangelo would say, "the Penultimate Supper!")

But penultimate doesn't mean second-best. Plus, I don't think my PR friend meant to say her client offered second-class services. (I think she just thought the word sounded cool.)

Also, keep in mind that using ultimate is fraught with hyperbolic peril. Are you -- or is what you provide -- really the absolute best imaginable? That's a tough standard to meet.

And now for the dreaded apostrophes:

It's and its
It's is the contraction of it is. That means it's doesn't own anything. If your dog is neutered (the way we make a dog, however much against his or her will, gender neutral), you don't say, "It's collar is blue." You say, "Its collar is blue."
Here's an easy test to apply. Whenever you use an apostrophe, un-contract the word to see how it sounds. Turn it's into it is: "It's sunny" becomes "It is sunny."

Sounds good to me.

They're and their
Same with these: They're is the contraction for they are. Again, the apostrophe doesn't own anything. We're going to their house, and I sure hope they're home.

Who's and whose
"Whose password hasn't been changed in six months?" is correct. Use the non-contracted version of who's, like, "Who is (the non-contracted version of who's) password hasn't been changed in six months?" and you sound a little silly.

You're and your
One more. You're is the contraction of you are. Your means you own it; the apostrophe in you're doesn't own anything.

A local nonprofit in my area once displayed a huge sign that said, "You're Community Place."

Hmm. "You Are Community Place"? No, probably not.
