Man Defiles His Own 11-year Daughter

A middle-aged man (names withheld) has been arrested and arraigned before a Makurdi Court for allegedly having sexual intercourse with his 11-year-old daughter. It was learned that the accused was arrested a few days ago after allegedly engaging the girl in days of repeated sexual abuse whenever his wife was away from home.

He was, however, caught in the act by a neighbour, who heard the cry of the girl, while she was allegedly being sexually abused, in one of his escapades.
The neighbour was said to have called the attention of his wife to the development. She examined her daughter and, convinced that she had been defiled, reported the matter to the police.

At the hearing yesterday, police prosecutor, Inspector Hyacinth Gbakun, told the court that the accused contravened Section 91 of the Penal Code and the laws of Benue State.
However, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction, but the prosecuting officer asked for an adjournment to allow the police carry out further investigations.
In her ruling, the presiding judge, Mrs. Cecilia Bakara, ordered that the accused be remanded at Makurdi Federal Prison and adjourned the case to September 29.

Missing Taxi Driver

ANXIETY, tinged with  fear, has gripped the families of a 52 years old taxi driver, Monday Etokhena, who seem to have disappeared into thin air one month after he took a passenger from Lagos to Owerri in Imo State. The father of three, according to the head of the Etokhena family of Iroakho – Fugar from Etsako Central local government of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Etokhena,   had decided to relocate to the village because things were not going on very well with him.
Narrating the genesis of the disappearance which has left the family in a lurch, the 73-year-old family head told Vanguard Metro, VM, that on getting to the village, Monday secured a vehicle, a Toyota Sienna bus with registration number JJJ 958DIC and owned by Moses Alegho, which he used to ply between Lagos and Auchi.

He disclosed that during one of Monday’s trips to Lagos, a passenger chartered the vehicle from Lagos to Owerri on June 30. He was said to have successfully taken the passenger to his Owerri destination. Before departing Owerri, he had called to inform a fellow driver that he had dropped the passenger at about  10:30pm. He also called the owner of the vehicle that he was on his way to Onitsha where he had hoped to spend the night but was advised by his master to spend the night at Asaba in Delta State instead.

However, three days later Monday’s wife called to inform Elder Etokhena that she had not heard from her husband since he travelled to Owerri. “I then called the master and he told me what he had started doing about the situation. As we were contemplating on other theories of what may had happened to him,   I told the owner of the vehicle that sometimes the   police could make an arrest and keep somebody at the station without people knowing.

I asked him to complain to the police. He went with the traditional ruler of Avianwu Clan, HRH Jackson Etokhena, to meet the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, at Fugar Police Station who promised to give them policemen to accompany them to Anambra State, but needed clearance from the office of the AIG Zone 5.
But they could not wait till Monday and had to go on their own,” he said. He disclosed that they were at the Head Bridge, Asaba, Onisha-Ugbo Police Station as well as the office of the FRSC, SARS at Onitsha, Ihiala Police Station and Control Room, Commissioner of Police Office, Owerri to make inquiries, but they told in each of the place visited that there was no record of the missing man.
The owner of the vehicle, Mr. Alegho, who together with HRH Etokhena was present during VM’s interaction with the family head, informed that the missing driver has been working “for me since February. We don’t have any problem.” Corroborating what the family had said, he added: “We went to several police stations in Delta, Anambra and Imo states; we were told no accident was recorded within that period. We went to the Edo State head quarters and they radioed all stations but no information was forthcoming.”

Elder Etokhena took it up from there. “I called Monday’s phone number and somebody, a male voice, picked it and said good morning Chief. I asked him to give the phone to the owner and he did not say anything. I called again and the number was switched off. My friend called and the same man picked. The strange voice said he was a friend to the owner of the phone. For about three days the phone was off.

“My brother said that he called the number and a lady picked the call. I called and the lady picked and I asked them what they wanted. The owner said I should tell them to take the vehicle and release the driver. I told them and they refused to say anything. On Friday, a man picked and said Your Highness and later kept quiet. I last called on Sallah day.
“We are not sure whether it was kidnapping. If it was kidnapping, they would have asked for ransom. I asked them what they wanted but they switched off the phone. We told the police to track the phone. They said they are working on it. The IPO called me to say that they have gotten the call history of the phone.  “We want the world to know what is going on and for them to be careful and to also know about our pains in looking for my brother”.

And in a rather more liberated precedent, the Italian courts once ruled that sexual intercourse in a car is legal if the couple are sufficiently passionate to steam up the windows.
It is common knowledge: ‘some lovers get a particular kick out of having undetected sex in public places under the very nose of unsuspecting people’, for example while sitting on a park bench or dancing at a party. This is facilitated if the couple go out wearing no pants! One young writer claims to have made love to his girlfriend on several occasions while sitting on the couch watching TV with her parents.

“Many people believe that making love at night when it is dark is the decent, natural thing to do. Nothing could be further from the truth. In the animal world, sex normally occurs in the day-time, along with eating and most other kinds of activity. The night is reserved mainly for sleeping. This pattern is seen in nearly all mammals, including our nearest relatives among the primates, and there is reason to believe that it applies to humans too.
For example, secretion of testosterone, the hormone responsible for sex drive, rises to a peak in the morning, and falls sharply in the evening. Therefore, it seems probably that our natural love-making urges are stronger when we are fresh and active in the daytime. The human shift to nocturnal sex must then be a culturally determined tendency—society prefers that we concentrate on work during the day. True, there is an instinct in animals which motivates them to seek privacy for copulation, but the love of darkness is not a favoured solution.

Bayelsa: 32-yr-Old Man Commits Suicide After He Caught His Wife With Anuother Man

YENAGOA—A 32-year-old man, Tuesday in Yenagoa, committed suicide after drinking an insecticide, known as Sniper, after he learned that his wife was having an extra-marital affair at Ikolo in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The deceased, identified as Amatari Christmas, was married to Tombara, an indigene of Ayama in the same local government area. They have two children.

Vanguard gathered that the incident has provoked anger among indigenes of the community, with some kinsmen of the deceased threatening to invoke their ancestors to deal with the unfaithful woman and her lover, identified as a suspected cultist and an indigene of Ayama.
A kinsman of the deceased, who gave his name as Francis, said their late brother, on getting wind of claims of infidelity against his wife, decided to monitor her activities in the community.
Francis said: “On Monday, the husband went to fetch vegetable in large quantities for his wife to sell. After harvesting the vegetable, the husband told the wife to return home after market to prepare dinner for the family.

“However, the dead husband became worried and suspicious at about 7p.m. when the wife did not return as instructed and went in search of her at his in-law’s house.
“At the mother in-law’s house, he was told she had gone to the father’s place at Ayama. At Ayama, a concerned friend took him to the home of his wife’s lover, where he caught them in bed.”
According to him, the wife’s lover, a suspected cultist in the area, had threatened to deal with the aggrieved husband who for fear of his life, hid himself in an uncompleted building before going home to drink the deadly substance after locking out his two children.
When contacted on the development, the spokesman of the state Police Command, Asinim Butswatt, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

Shell to Sack 6,500 Staff This Year!

Royal Dutch Shell has announced plans to cut 6,500 job losses this year as a result of the collapse in world oil prices. The London-listed oil firm warned that it was "planning for a prolonged downturn" in prices, lasting several years, as it moved to slash costs for 2015 by 10%, or £2.6bn.

It said that its investment plans for the year were also being scaled down, by £4.5bn, and it expected to cut more in 2016.

The company made the announcement as it confirmed half-year pre-tax profits of £5.2bn - down 16%. Chief executive Ben van Beurden said: "We have to be resilient in a world where oil prices remain low for some time, whilst keeping an eye on recovery."

The cost of oil slumped over a year ago - dropping more than 50% to an average of $62 for a barrel of Brent Crude in the second quarter of this year.

The slump can be attributed to falling global demand, particularly amid the slowdown in China and in many emerging markets, and soaring production of shale oil in the US.

Major producing nations have refused to slash output to prop up prices to protect their market share from the US challenge.

The cost of Brent crude currently stands at $53-per barrel.

It was the first time that Shell had put a number on total job cuts for 2015. It had previously said 500 North Sea-facing role would go in the UK.

Mr van Beurden said Shell was making good progress on its planned £47bn takeover of BG.

He said Shell was aiming to become a "simpler and more profitable company" - and after the transaction would cut spending on exploration while reviewing the way it invests capital in long-term projects and disposing of assets.

"These are challenging times for the industry, and we are responding with urgency and determination, but also with a great sense of excitement for the future."

Missing Malaysian Airplane Found!!

Experts are preparing to examine a large piece of debris washed ashore on Reunion Island, amid speculation it could be from missing airliner MH370. The two-metre-long chunk has an identifying number and was found covered in shells on Wednesday morning.

Experts from Malaysia, including representatives from the Department of Civil Aviation and Malaysia Airlines, are travelling to the island to examine the find, although journey time between Kuala Lumpur and Reunion Island is around 25 hours.
There were also reports from local media that a badly-damaged suitcase had been found near where the wreckage was discovered. Police on the island are investigating the suitcase, which was found by a  local worker.

Police on the island have taken the debris to the island's Roland Garros Airport for analysis, although authorities there have warned people not to get "ahead of themselves" until they are able to pinpoint the origin of the wreckage.
Air safety investigators, however, have a "high degree of confidence" that the debris is from a Boeing 777 - the same type of aircraft as the missing plane, according to a US official.

The un-named source told the AP news agency they had identified it as a flaperon from a 777 wing but Malaysian Deputy Transport Minister Aziz Kaprawi would only say it appeared "similar" and two days would be needed to confirm.
There have only been four hull-loss crashes of Boeing 777s resulting in injuries or fatalities, the other three being over land.

"It is more than likely plane debris, (but) we don't know what exact part it may be," said Eric Chesneau, an air transport police officer on the island, which is around 580 miles from Madagascar.
The disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines flight has baffled experts since March 2014, when the plane dropped off radar during a journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, with 239 people on board.
Australia is currently co-ordinating the search for the jet, focusing on a huge expanse of ocean about 1,000 miles off its west coast but so far drawing a blank.

Australia's deputy prime minister Warren Truss said he had been told it was a "realistic possibility" the wreckage of MH370 could have travelled as far as Reunion if the plane had entered the part of the Indian Ocean being searched.
The find in Reunion Island comes under the jurisdiction of French authorities - along with the Malaysians - as the island is a French department.
Malaysia's Ministry of Transport said that "until there is tangible and irrefutable evidence that the flaperon does belong to the missing aircraft, it would be premature to speculate at this juncture.
"This is to ensure that we do not raise false hopes for the loved ones of the victims of MH370."
In a statement, Malaysia Airlines said: "With regards to the reports of the discovery at Reunion Island, we're working with the relevant authorities to confirm the matter. At the moment it would be too premature for the airline to speculate the origin of the object."

Radar engineer Dan Holland told Sky News the number found on the debris was "like a VIN number on a car, or a mobile phone’s IMEI number", although Mr Truss said later that he had been told the number was not a serial number but perhaps a maintenance number.
He said investigators should be able to check relatively quickly if it came from the doomed Boeing 777 because the number is unique but he added that he was "extremely sceptical" it is from MH370.
"Any low-flying plane in the area would have been detected by powerful military radar on Diego Garcia," said Mr Holland.
However, he agreed it was possible the debris could have drifted a great distance from the crash site.
Estimates on how far the plane could have flown vary, but some experts believe it could have travelled as far as Madagascar, some 500 miles past Reunion.

Bankruptcy hits PDP, plans to reduce staff strength, salaries, allowances by 50%

Barely two months into its new status as the opposition political party, having governed the country for sixteen years, the Peoples Democratic Party, has started struggling with the challenge of being an opposition, as it yesterday announced that the party will reduce allowances, staff strength by 50%. 

The party has also said it would reduce the salaries and allowances of its staff by 50%, even as the allowances of members of the National Working Committee, NWC would be slashed down by 50%.

In a letter signed by PDP National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo and addressed to all director and administrative staff of PDP, the leadership of the Party would also reduce the number of its security by 50%.

The letter dated 29 July, 2015 with reference number PS/DD/AD/HOD/SAs/PAS and obtained by Vanguard, the Secretary who noted that the decisions were reached at the 406th meeting of the NWC yesterday, stressed that the party’s Research Directorate has also been abolished and functions of the Directorate transferred to the Peoples Democratic Institute.

The copy of the memo, entitled “Reorganization and Restructuring of Staff at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party”, read in full, “The NWC, at its 406th meeting held on 29th July, 2015, considered the Report on the reorganization and restructuring of staff at the National Secretariat and approved the following:        

• Reduction of the allowances of all NWC members by 50%.
• Reduction of the number of personal staff of the NWC members by 50%
• Reduction in the number of security personnel attached to the National Officers by 50%
• The reduction of the salaries and allowances of all staff (Establishment and Staff of NWC members) by 50% effective August, 2015.
• Abolition of the Research Directorate and transfer of its functions to the Peoples Democratic Institute.

“Furthermore, Establishment staff who would remain are required to obtain individual letter of re-validation from their State Party Chapter within one month of this circular as to their suitability for service at the National Secretariat.”

Police Arrested Two Persons In Connection With Disappearance of Teenager’s Manhood After Handshake

Police have arrested two persons for allegedly making the joystick of a 17-year old boy, Suleiman Usman, to ‘vanish’ at Lambata in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State. A witness, Mohammed Tsado, said the victim told him that one of the suspects alighted from a car and asked him to shake him but he declined.

But the suspect insisted by asking him whether he was not a Muslim. After accepting the handshake, Usman, according to the witness, realized that his joystick had vanished and then he raised the alarm. Another witness, Zakari Mohammed, said the suspects ran into their car and sped off but were intercepted at Muye by vigilantes who had been tipped off. However, the aggrieved youth descended on the suspects and attempted to lynch them. But, the police intervened and took the suspects to the station.

The suspects were allegedly asked to restore the victim’s joystick. Usman was then taken to a commercial sex worker to confirm whether his joystick was still functioning. He said his joystick was back but he could not ‘perform’. The youth of Lambata later thronged to the police station and threatened to attack the suspects.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana, said it was a sensitive case that required professional handling. He said: “But, the angry youth did not allow the police to do their job. I can assure you that we are on top of the matter and we will ensure the case is handled amicably.”

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday,  spoke about Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Centre in celebration of his 20th year of priesthood.

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President commended the cleric for what he described as his “extraordinary intrepidity and remarkable patriotism.”

He described Mbaka as a great priest who is not afraid to speak truth, even at the cost of his own life or being hated by those in power.

He said the priest is a remarkable example that religious leaders are the conscience and moral compass of the society.

He said Mbaka rose to the occasion to add his voice in support of good governance and identify with ordinary Nigerians in the face of despair and uncertain future.

“Though honest opinions attract hostility from leaders detached from reality, history would be kind to Father Mbaka for courageously speaking truth to power, even at great risks,” the statement said.

Buhari, who said he was overwhelmed by Mbaka’s sincerity and patriotism, prayed to God to grant the priest more good health, long life and wisdom in the service of humanity.

Boko Haram Crush! Nigerian Army Rescues 30 Persons From Captivity

The Nigerian Army said Tuesday that it had rescued 30 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Boko Haram’s captivity in Dikwa, Borno State.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations 7 Division, Maiduguri, Colonel Tukur Gusau.

The statement said : “As a result of ongoing operations under the aegis of Operation Lafiya Dole to clear Dikwa and its environs from Boko Haram terrorists, the troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army yesterday (Monday) rescued 30 internally displaced persons from the hands of the terrorists in Kwayabe and Wufe wards in Dikwa LGA of Borno State.”

The statement listed the rescued persons to include 21 children and a six-day- old infant, seven women, including three nursing mothers and two elderly male adults.

The statement added: “Our troops also discovered a training shed inside the vandalised and looted palace of the Shehu of Dikwa where weapon handling and engagement of aircraft were being taught to new Boko Haram recruits.”

Oshiomhole Blast Jonathan. Says: There was primitive looting under Jonathan

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says there was massive looting of the commonwealth during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Governor said while he was in no position to determine if the former President was personally guilty, or if he acquiesced to the looting, but as President, he must take responsibility for what happened under his watch.
In an interview with Sahara Reporters TV in Washington DC, Governor Oshiomhole also said although he had raised many questions on the tenure of the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, he has nothing personal against her.

He said: “what is obvious is that so much money was diverted and unaccounted for from government treasury. Not just from excess crude account, but also from other agencies of government.  The numbers are huge.
For example, NNPC reports that they earned about N8 trillion within three to four years and over the same period, they claimed they spent N3.5 trillion and paid to the federation account about N4.1 trillion.

So the cost of running NNPC was as much as the cost of running the federation, both the Federal, State and local governments.  So that tells you the amount of primitive stealing that went on. The numbers are mind-boggling. So when we talk of Excess crude, that is just one element.”
He said his grouse with Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was that as Coordinating Minister of the Economy, so much sleaze and malfeasance went on under her watch without raising an alarm, saying “she has to come clean. Having accepted the role of the Coordinating Minister, so many things went wrong with the Nigerian economy even to the extent that for the first time in our history, even the Federal Government could not pay salary, they had to borrow. The pension scheme has been drawn down, the social purpose of the pension scheme has now been defeated.

“So first of all we are saying, accept responsibility that you failed to manage the economy properly. Two, you never gave in even when we argued that the economy was in distress she was on record as always saying no, the economy was fine, the economy was strong, we are the largest economy on the continent. Of course, people are not fooled, just revaluing your assets and playing with the numbers. What has changed in the quality of life of the people? You have rebased the economy, have you rebased the quality of life? You haven’t!

“If you claim to have the largest economy, you can’t also plead insolvency at the same time. What we are simply asking her to do is to open the whole book. What the council has asked us to do is, the Committee of Four Governors is to just look at this excess crude thing, and show what went in, who took what, when and who authorized it. So at least we have a basis to start. But I think, going forward, we will need a forensic audit by competent auditors to look at the books so that the whole truth can be known even if we can’t retrieve some of the money but I believe a lot can be retrieved and it is good that we have a basis to identify who is responsible and who to be blamed.

“I think people need to recognize that from my own background, I am never intimidated. As a labor leader, I questioned authority, I interrogated power and the fact of being in government doesn’t give me much comfort as to be indifferent about gross abuse of power and criminal diversion of funds. What should I hate her for? What for? I am not a federal official, I am as privileged as any other governor but I am troubled by people saying one thing in the afternoon and doing another at night.
“People should ask the question, how come each time the issue of corruption and abuse or diversion of funds was raised, Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was the first to defend rather than show concern and have open mind. You remember when the CBN Governor whom you can’t dismiss talked about huge billions of dollars diverted, Ngozi was quick to say no, it is not $20billion, it is only $10.8 billion.

“Even that was offensive to good conscience and then later she said we are going to do forensic audit, NNPC books have not been audited. How could she preside over an economy in which the main player such as NNPC was not, as a matter of course, carrying out annual audit? Why should that happen under her watch? A lot of funds accruing to institutions like NIMASA were diverted. Why should that happen under her watch? Contracts were awarded without any bidding.
“If people say there was too much corruption in Nigeria, who was presiding over the economy? She is not on record as having raised any alarm on abuse of office. So there is nothing personal about it. If anything I consider her a friend but she knows that my friendship is subordinated to the bigger national interest. What do I stand to gain? I could as well play along, keep quiet, be a good guy but I will rather be a good guy to my conscience, not to any body’s face.

“So the truth is, she should answer the questions. She was reported to have said that because she didn’t approve the loan the Governor wanted to take to pay contractors and I said very good, I wanted to borrow money to pay contractors, not to pay workers but she was borrowing money to pay salaries but I have never borrowed money to pay salaries, I am up-to-date with the payment of salaries.
“So I am not grumbling because I am frustrated, I am making a point because that is the truth. She is not entitled to claim an honor that she doesn’t deserve in the face of these huge numbers that cannot be accounted for. I believe the President is quietly doing some works to determine what went wrong in the rot that he inherited, to determine who is responsible for what.
“When these numbers begin to come out, I will expect the minister to explain how she can claim to have been a successful Coordinating Minister of the Economy yet the economy suffered so much bleeding and diversion of funds.
“Here in Washington, everybody is talking about billions of dollars of Nigeria crude money that was taken. How could you supervise an economy, you are cooking the soup, the elephant leg is being stolen and you didn’t raise an alarm. People raised an alarm and you shut them up. So I think Nigerians should move away from sentiments. I have even heard people saying it is ethnic issues. It is the typical Nigerian issue when a public officer has no explanation, he seeks escape route by bringing in sentiments of ethnicity and religion.

“For people like me, that doesn’t disturb me at all. I am a union man, I have always interrogated power and when I was in the NLC, I challenged some of our policies. So she knows where I stand. I would rather be known for something that be known for nothing.
“On the issue of PMB decision to probe the immediate past administration of GEJ, Oshiomhole said, “I don’t think probe is the right word. For a President whose major campaign was hinged on ‘if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill us’, it is only natural that he recovers what was stolen and I think it is only patriotic that we do that.
“More also when you inherited huge debts and you will be devoting huge resources to service those debts. If we recovered money from Abacha government even after his death, why should anybody ask questions if indeed he should probe.

“I don’t think it is about probing. Probe means investigating what is not obvious but when you can see a thief stealing and you can arrest him, ask him and recover what has been stolen, that is not probe. Probe is like finding what is not clear, it is so clear that so much money was diverted even we were told we are losing 400 thousand barrels a day. How can that happen?  Yes we have always had issues of illegal bunkering but then you talk of 10 thousand or 20 thousand barrels. How can anybody explain 400,000 barrels consistently for 2, 3 consecutive years and incidentally, this is the time that the government gave out contracts to people to protect the pipelines and huge sums of money was paid. So you are asking yourself, how come during the previous government under Yar’Adua, even at the peak of militancy, we didn’t suffer this huge demurrage.
“I think it is not about choice for President Buhari whether or not to recover what has been taken. I think he is obliged to do it in the national interest. I don’t see how he can shy away from it because it is like seeing something stolen from your household and you refuse to recover it; you can see the thief, and sometimes you even can see the stolen goods.
“A lot of stealing went on under President Goodluck Jonathan’s watch, there is no question about that but as for his own personal level of guilt, it is not for me to say. But every President, just like every Governor or Local Government Chairman must accept responsibility for whatever happened under his watch. Leadership is about responsibility.”

Imo workers begin indefinite strike today Over Unpaid salaries

OWERRI—Government activities in Imo State will, with effect from today, remain grounded, following the indefinite industrial action called by labour leaders in the state.

This development has eventually vindicated Vanguard that had exclusively been reporting the growing discontent among workers, over the state government’s alleged plan to slash staff salaries in the state.

According to a public announcement broadcast in Radio Nigeria, Heartland FM and Hot FM, signed by all the labour leaders, in lauding the State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Austen Chilakpu, all workers were ordered to remain in their respective homes until otherwise directed by the union leaders.

The aggrieved labour leaders hinged their current action on the unwillingness of the state government to fulfil its own part of the recent agreement it freely entered with labour, over the backlog of unpaid salaries and allowances owed workers.

A civil servant that spoke on strict grounds of anonymity, fumed that “Governor Rochas Okorocha chose to travel to the United States of America, when he should have stayed at home to resolve the brewing labour crisis that has now hit the state.”

Continuing, the worker, who accused the Governor of double standard, wondered why he should send his son overseas to study, when his administration not only prides itself with running free education at all levels, but had also been claiming that Imo State University, compete with other universities across the world.

I Caught My Boss Banging Our New Secretary in The Office; Am I Safe?

I encountered an act in the office some days back and since then it seems things have taken an awkward turn in my office.

I work in an organization as an assistant consultant, which by implication makes my office very close to my boss who is the senior consultant in our department.

On a fateful Friday after work, I decided to stay behind in order to tide up some office works. After about two hours I started hearing some strange moans/voices coming from the office directly opposite which happens to be my oga's office. I was curious so I decided to take a look to see what's going on, when I got to the door, I didn't hear any voice so I thought maybe it was my imagination. I gently pushed the door expecting it to be locked only for the door to open and lo and behold my boss was banging our newly employed secretary on his office table. our both eyes jammed, I stood frozen for some minutes (I guess) before I heard his voice "Young man what are you looking for in my office?"

Since that event things have been very awkward between me, my boss and the secretary. ( Don't know what to do)

Akpabio Emerges Senate Minority Leader

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the Senate today Tuesday in Abuja, announced the appointment of Sen. Godswill Akpabio (Akwa-Ibom North-West) as the Minority Leader in the Red chamber. Making the announcement, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, also announced the appointment of Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP Taraba South) as Deputy Minority Leader.

Other appointees of the PDP are Sen. Phillip Aduda (PDP FCT), Minority Whip and Sen. Biodun Olujimi (PDP Ekiti South), Deputy Minority Whip. But, Sen. Kabir Marafa (APC Zamfara Central) immediately challenged the appointments, saying that they violated the senate’s rules on ranking.
Marafa, who particularly challenged the appointment of Sen. Godswill Akpabio who is a first-time senator as minority leader, urged that the appointment should be declared null and void. Citing Order 13(2) of the 2015 Senate Standing Rules, he argued that a ranking senator was supposed to have occupied the position given to Akpabio.

However, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekwerenmadu, insisted that the appointment of the officers was PDP’s affair and not the business of Marafa, who is an APC member. He clarified that the rule on ranking only stipulates that ranking senators should be considered first before other non-ranking senators, stressing that the constitution allows any senator to occupy any position.
“If the ranking senator cannot take the position for any reason, then the next level of ranking senators can be considered,” he said. At the point, Saraki ruled Marafa out of order, saying that the PDP senators were not complaining and as such, urged Marafa to “stop crying more than the bereaved’’.

Angel-like creature complete with wings falls out of the sky in the middle of London

LONDONERS have been treated to an unprecedented spectacle yesterday after an angel-like creature fell out of the sky in the city centre and caused a huge stir with onlookers gathering around to marvel at the extra-terrestrial creature.   A human-like being, the creature looks like an angel, complete with wings as arms and immediately it landed, it was whisked away by security operatives. Men believed to be undercover police officers dressed in suits and sunglasses, took the creature away to an unknown destination.   It is not known if the creature is still alive or not or whether it is conscious as it appeared to be unconscious when it landed. So far, police have not revealed whether it is indeed human and whether it has normal human characteristics like the power of speech.   No doubts, tests will be conducted on the creature to ascertain if it is a member of the homo sapiens specie. There is also the possibility that it is a human dressed up to look like an angel, which may have flown off a building.

Here are some of those beliefs... no. Wait. Before you comment that my point of view is shallow and materialistic (Hint: success has nothing to do with fame or fortune.) With that out of the way, here are some of the core beliefs of incredibly successful people:

1. They believe success is inevitable only in hindsight.

Read stories of successful entrepreneurs and it's easy to think they have some intangible entrepreneurial something -- ideas, talent, drive, skills, creativity, whatever -- that you don't have.

Wrong. Success is inevitable only in hindsight. It's easy to look back on an entrepreneurial path to greatness and assume that every vision was clear, every plan was perfect, every step was executed flawlessly, and tremendous success was a foregone conclusion. It wasn't. Success is never assured. Only in hindsight does it appear that way.

If you're willing to work hard and persevere, who you are is more than enough. Don't measure yourself against other people.

2. They believe they can choose themselves.

Once you had to wait: to be accepted, to be promoted, to be selected... to somehow be "discovered."

Not anymore. Access is nearly unlimited; you can connect with almost anyone through social media. You can publish your own work, distribute your own music, create your own products, attract your own funding.

You can do almost anything you want -- and you don't have to wait for someone else to discover your talents. The only thing holding you back is you -- and your willingness to try.

3. They believe they are servants.

Man beheaded over N200 debt in Ebonyi

A middle aged man (name withheld) was allegedly beheaded at the weekend by one Mr. Ogo Nwaji at Amanato Community in Onicha Igboeze of Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The community was thrown into a state of shock and disbelief when it discovered the headless body of its son lieing along the road in the community.

Vanguard gathered that the deceased was beheaded at night when he was returning home from a popular drinking joint.
A source close to a security outfit in the area revealed that what led to the incident was as a result of an irreconcilable differences between the deceased and his assailant over the debt of N200.
It was learned that Ogo Nwaji allegedly confronted the deceased where they were drinking a local gin and requested that the deceased pay him the N200 debt he was owing him but the deceased according to an eyewitness claimed he was not owing him (Nwaji) any money.

This development apparently led to the duo exchanging words of abuses and threat to each other in the presence of those around.
Our correspondent further gathered that Ogo Nwaji who left the scene angrily, got to his residence, brought out a sharped cutlass and waylaid his victim at night and cut off his head as he was returning from a drinking joint.
Following the unfortunate demise of the deceased, a source hinted that the vigilante group in the community was immediately alerted and Ogo Nwaji was arrested, paraded and handed over to the police for prosecution.

Obasanjo and Soyinka, both in their 80’s, have had a long love/hate relationship…always coming for each other at the slightest opportunity. The latest person to come for the other is Obasanjo.

Speaking to Channels TV’s ‘Book Club’ yesterday, where he was interviewed about his controversial book ‘My Watch’ where he also trashed Soyinka, Obasanjo said what he wrote about the literary icon in his book was purely his view and that Soyinka did not have to agree with him.

“Wole Soyinka is a gifted man. I have always acknowledged that but he is a bad politician and I have also always said that. That is my own point of view. He may agree with it, he may not agree with it. But having said that, I also, in my book, bring out Wole Soyinka as I see him and that’s my own judgment; that’s my own perspective of him. He may agree, he may not agree but anybody can bring out his own perspective of me. For instance, I know that if I want somebody to give me the best wine, one of the people I will go to is Wole Soyinka and I know he has a taste for good wine and I said that in the book.” he said.

Buhari Begin Negotiations with Boko Haram…See List Of Milestones Achieved So Far

There are reports that the presidency has started negotiations with Boko Haram. This comes a week after president Buhari told CNN’s Christine Amanpour that his govt will negotiate with the terrorist sect for the release of Chibok girls if they are assured of the credibility of the leadership of the sect they will be negotiating with.

The Nation reports that some of President Buhari’s confidants and leaders of the sect group are doing the negotiations.

A source who spoke on the recent development said
“The President’s appeal for peace in the Northeast is yielding dividends because a fresh facilitation of talks between the Presidency and Boko Haram has started. This latest negotiation, which is at the preliminary stage, is being promoted by some mutual confidants of the Presidency and Boko Haram. The new deal may lead to the release of some Chibok girls to set the tone for a comprehensive negotiation by both sides. The President is extremely cautious on this offer of negotiation. Buhari has ordered security agencies to screen or certify those Boko Haram commanders interested in facilitating this latest negotiation to ensure that they are bonafide leaders of the sect. The position of the President is that why he is not averse to a peace deal, the Federal Government must avoid the costly mistakes of the past which led to a waste of time and huge resources. The President wants the release of the Chibok girls and quick restoration of peace to the Northeast; he is ready to negotiate with the right people for sustainable results.”
But there are strong indications that the leader of the sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau, is yet to be involved in the new deal.
“I think we are still at the preliminary stage. At the right time, there is a way the negotiation offer will be forwarded to their leader. But the fact that some Boko Haram commanders, whom US placed ransom upon, might be part of the negotiation shows that the crisis can be resolved, if all hands are on deck, “ another source said.

Governor Wike Warns Buhari against Amaechi. Says No One Is More Corrupt Than Amaechi,

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has advised President Muhammad Buhari not to give Rotimi Amaechi, any appointment in his cabinet.

Describing his predecessor as the most corrupt government official in the country. Wike said Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign would suffer if a man like Amaechi served in his government.

Given the role Amaechi played in the emergence of Buhari, there are reports that the director-general of the APC presidential campaign will be considered in Buhari’s cabinet.

“If Buhari is sincere in his fight against corruption, let him probe the Amaechi’s government and he will discover that there cannot be a government official that is more corrupt than Amaechi,” Opunabo Inko-Tariah, Wike’s special adviser on media and publicity, said in a statement issued on Sunday.

“From the genesis to revelation of his government, Amaechi’s fiscal recklessness and dictatorial policies and approaches are responsible for the financial woes of the state that should ordinarily be buoyant.

“A man like Amaechi must not be allowed to flaunt the fruits of his crime with impunity. He has to account for the monthly allocations he received in 8 years and the IGRs for the same period. He spirited so much out of the system with little or nothing to show for it.

“The appointment of Amaechi by Buhari will be an endorsement of corruption by Buhari,” he said.

The governor said if Amaechi was blameless, he wouldn’t be seeking protection from investigation.

“If there are no skeletons in his cupboard, why try to frustrate the Hon Justice Omereji’s commission of inquiry? This obviates the need for further evidence that his hands are dirty.   After all, he started and ended his reign with the late Justice Kayode Esho’s panel and the Prof Odinkalu’s commission of inquiry respectively -not to talk of that headed by Justice B A Georgewill.  ‘Do unto others, what you want others to do unto you’, our Lord Jesus admonished my brother Knight, Amaechi.

“The attempt to stop the Hon Justice Omereji’s Commission of Inquiry from investigating his government is not only risible but shameful and highly provocative. It is ironical that the same man who sealed the judiciary for close to two years and turned lawyers into taxi drivers and artisans  will now have the gumption to approach the same courts he desecrated for justice.

“If his successor had followed his footsteps, which court would he have approached to seek redress?  How will he appear before those he almost turned into beggars?  As a result of his callous and insensitive actions, most lawyers had broken homes as they could not sustain their families. Some even lost their loved ones in hospitals for lack of money to buy needed drugs.”

Daughter of Whitney Houston, dies at the age of 22

The late singer’s daughter had been in an induced coma since being found unresponsive in her bath in January

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston, has died six months after going into a coma. She was 22.

Brown, who was found unresponsive in her bathtub in Atlanta in January, died at a hospice in Duluth, Georgia on Sunday.

Kristen Foster, a family representative, said: “Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

As the news of her death spread across social media, several celebrities tweeted their condolences.

Grammy-winning performer Missy Elliot tweeted, “My heart is truly heavy. May u rest in peace with your mommy”.
